Mary Ellen Little, RNC is Certified in Neonatal Nursing and has worked in level 3 neonatal intensive care units in the greater Philadelphia area since 1990. Mary Ellen is an achondroplastic dwarf and the mother of two children, and she has been an active member of Little People of America (LPA) since she was a child. Throughout her career, she has worked countless times with parents who have had to make heart wrenching decisions. However, Mary Ellen had a life-changing experience in 2005 when her dear friends received a diagnosis of “double dominance” for their first child during their fifth month of pregnancy. As she shared her knowledge and counseled with the couple during the remaining months of the pregnancy, shared in the birth and death of their daughter, and helped them work through the stages of grief, she discovered a new meaning for her life. Mary Ellen has a special gift for helping parents to work through difficult decisions, and her experience can lighten your burden. Mary Ellen is the Bereavement Coordinator for Little People of America, and has been trained by Resolve Through Sharing (RTS). A note from Mary Ellen: If you are visiting this website because of a diagnosis of a lethal form of dwarfism, I am so sorry. Perhaps you are considering continuing your pregnancy and embracing any time you may have with your baby. Parents who have chosen this path have found that it can be a beautiful and profoundly meaningful journey. |
